Wow, it’s fascinating the stuff kids will write down on paper and turn in. I wish I could explain the range of creative answers I just saw… and this is math. Homework is great! I feel like I have a much, much better grasp on who knows what. I graded about 20 student’s work (yeah, they didn’t all turn it in) on an assignment with 7 problems in about 30 minutes. Which I guess isn’t too long, but it’s going to start adding up fast when I have multiple classes turning in their assignments on the same day. (We are on a block schedule that makes each class meets 4 times a week.)

I can see why some teachers prefer to just check off homework in class or only look at one of the problems. But looking at these papers, I felt like they were little miniature tests! They showed me some of what they know and don’t know. I think for now I will try to grade everything and turn the papers back to them as quickly as I can. Any bets on how long I can keep that up?
