Lesson Plans
I’m getting better at writing lesson plans. For example, I’ve figured out that I should actually make a plan for each lesson. It’s not that I haven’t had a plan for each class, but I hadn’t really bothered to write the whole thing down, put times next to each item, and then actually try to do the student work myself to make sure it’s reasonable. I’m still doing this for the two different courses during my prep period immediately before teaching, but at least it’s happening. I feel like I’m starting to get a better sense of what will take a long time in class, and what will go quickly. Now I just need to make sure that the time I’m spending on various topics is going to add up to a complete understanding (or at least working knowledge) of the subject by the end of the year.
