Summer
Well, I made it to summer. And with the summer off, I figured I should get a summer job. It just so happened that one of the tech companies that I used to work for had an opening, they were offering a lot of money, and I was a good match. So now I’m driving a cubicle again, and it’s really pretty depressing. A lot of the problem is that they don’t actually have any work for me to do. I suppose that could change in the next couple of weeks, but I’m only going to be here for a month. It’s easy to forget how much inefficiency there is in these big companies that can afford it. But it does boggle the mind that they hired someone without really having a plan for what I should be doing.
Anyway, I suppose I should stop reading all the interesting news of the internets and start spending this extra desk time working on my online credential program. At least I’ll be getting paid to do the annoying and pointless online tasks. Which, really, I shouldn’t complain about. I’ve just gotten used to feeling like there’s a purpose in getting up every day. So I guess I should use this as an opportunity to expand the time scale over which I can get motivated to enact meaningful work from, say, one day to maybe a whole month.
